Forest Park

Queen Elisabeth forest park is a short walk from the  door into the forest - up to The Lodge Visitors centre where you can enjoy waterfalls, scenic views, a cafe, lake,  wildlife hide where you can enjoy the varied bird life and spot red squirrels .  In the forest there's activities for the kids (like building a dam- favourite with adults too), the lodge has wildlife displays & often puts on treasure hunts and activities- please check their website for up to date information.  If you've a head for heights there's Go-Ape zip wire experience (one of the longest in the UK ).  Hill walkers and cyclists can enjoy many wonderful trails up mountains &  by lochs . Aberfoyle has a special place in our heart!

This part of Scotland is very special to our family.  Our great great grandmother was born in a little cottage "Stonefield" by the Lake of Menteith.  During the war my mother who was just a child was evacuated from Glasgow to Gartmore ( a nearby village) and went to school there for around 2 years.  After she met my dad, they moved to Ireland, but kept dreaming of coming back to Scotland so  they settled back in Aberfoyle as No 12 was being built around 30 years ago. Generations of our family have been staying here ever since.  In 2018 we opened as a holiday home & welcomed our first guests.  In 2019 we decided to expand & add no 14 .  We are so happy that our guests love it  here too and gave us 5 star reviews (check out what they say on airbnb and trip advisor) but book direct for the best rates.
