Aberfoyle is in the scenic Trossachs area of Scotland, just 26 miles north of Glasgow, 22 miles west of Stirling, & 50 miles from Edinburgh.  With its beautiful lochs, mountains & woodlands, many call this conservation area a mini Highlands.

Both houses feature Flat screen TV available in the lounge,

 broadband/wifi to connect you and your guests for your stay

Whilst there is an additional games room in no 14, no 12 has a large family bathroom & more spacious bedrooms  with plenty of storage & built in wardrobes 

Both houses have a selection of games, books & maps for your enjoyment.

Both 12 & 14 master bedroom features a king size bed & fully sprung memory foam mattress for the ultimate quality rest & relaxation

We are also delighted to offer guests Faith in Nature soaps, gels & shampoo all in eco friendly refillable bottles to use during your stay.

Things to Do

Forest Park 

 

Queen Elisabeth forest park is a short walk from the  door into the forest - up to The Lodge Visitors centre where you can enjoy waterfalls, scenic views, a cafe, lake,  wildlife hide where you can enjoy the varied bird life and spot red squirrels .  In the forest there's activities for the kids (like building a dam- favourite with adults too), the lodge has wildlife displays & often puts on treasure hunts and activities- please check their website for up to date information.  If you've a head for heights there's Go-Ape zip wire experience (one of the longest in the UK ).  Hill walkers and cyclists can enjoy many wonderful trails up mountains &  by lochs . 

Fishing

 

The Trossachs and Loch Lomond are the perfect place for a good fishing experience. There are lots of Lochs and Rivers with a range of different fish such as trout, salmon, pike perch and more. You can choose between some of the most beautiful lochs and rent a boat or do fishing from shore  Closest fishing is at Lake of Menteith , Loch Ard, Loch Ard, Loch Venacher & Loch Lomond 

Cycling

 

Aberfoyle is very popular for cycling and mountain biking, with the sustran National Cycle route 7, off road trails across to Callander, and beyond, plus its very own cycling festival Duke's weekender in Sept , there's even a shop in the village where you can hire bikes for all the family.  

Family friendly activities 

 

Castle Rednock Trekking centre is a short distance away and has many activities including pony rides & segway trekking, a playbarn & orienteering. 

In the village Intrepid organise bushskills, foraging, camps & outdoor safaris.

Blair Drummond Safari Park is one of Scotland's top attractions and perfect place for a family day out to see the wildlife.

Go - Ape (with its epic zipwires through the forest

Or go see the Red Kites and wildlife at Argaty on a ranger-led tour

Hikes & Tours

 

You'll be in the heart of the beautiful Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.  Nearby you will find Loch Ard, which boasts exciting activities including water sports & wild swimming,  Loch Katrine where you can hop on-board a lake cruise on the steam boat SS Sir Walter Scott.  Take a boat across to an island on Lake of Menteith, where you'll find Inchmahome Priory, - Mary Queen of Scots once stayed here.

 Aberfoyle is an ideal touring base for the scenic trossachs area - incl Loch Lomond, Dukes Pass with the scenic 3 lochs forest drive, or head over to the Eastern shores of Loch Lomond , past the scenic Arrochar Alps, to Inversnaid where theWest Highland Way & Rob Roy Way passes through & has an impressive waterfall & woodland walks or catch a ferry across to the other side.  

Scenic Towns

 

Callander  is a 20 minute direct drive away (or take the longer scenic Dukes pass route ) where you can find a large selection of tourist & traditional wool shops, cafe’s & bars.  For those who wish to go further afield, there’s Stirling with its imposing Castle & monument, where Scotland's war of Independence was fought and won Blair Drummond Safari Park, the Falkirk Wheel, Cultural Glasgow, & historic Edinburgh with a miriad of cultural attractions including the famous Royal Mile, Historic Castle,  Edinburgh Festival & world famous New Year Hogmanay celebrations

Golf 

 

Scotland is the home of golf as we know it, it originated in this country as early as 1457.  The village boasts one of the most scenic golf courses in Scotland-the Aberfoyle Golf Club  situated a mile out of the village.  Further afield  Gleneagles Golf Club which hosted the Ryder cup in 2014 & Loch Lomond have world class golf courses.  If you're wanting something for all the family,  Callander has a gem of a mini Golf course

A Mini Highlands with lochs & mountains

You'll be in the heart of the beautiful Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and the houses are an ideal base from which to explore the area. Nearby you will find Loch Ard, which boasts exciting activities including water sports & wild swimming,  or there's Go-Ape, walking & cycle trails from the door,  Lake of Menteith has fishing (permits available) as well as Loch Katrine where you can hop on-board a lake cruise on the steam boat SS Sir Walter Scott or hire a bike and explore on 2 wheels.

 

Aberfoyle is a popular holiday village, with its local amenities, a well stocked Co-op supermarket (open 7am-10pm daily), cafes, pub, chemist, shops, post office, fuel station, cycle hire shop, and the Scottish wool centre, a regional attraction on the story of wool with live sheep shows, spinning demonstrations and working sheepdogs. The village also boasts one of the most scenic golf courses in Scotland, the Aberfoyle Golf Club.

 

The house is ideally positioned just above the main street of the village and a short 10  min walk from the  door through the forest up to The Lodge visitors centre in Queen Elisabeth Forest Pk with waterfalls, scenic views, cafe, lake & mountain walks &, Go-Ape zip wire experience (one of the longest in the UK). Hill walkers and cyclists can enjoy many wonderful trails across famous bens and lochs, through Dukes pass and onto Callander, around Loch Lomond. For those who wish to go further afield, there’s Stirling Castle, Blair Drummond Safari Park, the Falkirk Wheel, Glasgow, & historic Edinburgh with a miriad of cultural attractions. Whatever the weather there’s something for all the family!
